Do you know anyone who has one of those enormous treadmills? You know, the one they showed off when they first got it. The answer is probably yes. It could be you. Either way, chances are it’s collecting dust in the garage. Why? Because it’s too big to maneuver and the owner would much not rather deal with it.
Luckily, for the majority of people who want to stay in good shape without having to battle the elements, there are compact treadmills. The average compact treadmill is about 59 to 60 inches long, 9 to 11 inches in height, and has a belt that is between 45 and 50 inches.
Before we get to the good stuff, let it be known right now that a compact treadmill isn’t for everyone. For example, if you’re really into running (opposed to jogging or walking), this isn’t the treadmill for you. Most compact treadmills reach top speeds of between 6 and 8 mph. Also, if you’re over 250 lbs, then the compact treadmill also isn’t for you (at least not yet, anyway). These treadmills are too light to handle that weight.
Now let’s get to the good stuff: folding compact treadmills are convenient. They can fit against a wall, under a bed, in a closet, etc. They are also easy to maneuver. If you’d like to take your compact treadmill out while watching TV, it’s easy. Only now you have no excuse for not exercising. The treadmills are also ideal for smaller living spaces, like apartments, condos, and maybe even dorm rooms.
One major benefit, regardless of where you live, is that they are a good deal cheaper than standard treadmills. You will also get two other features a standard treadmill doesn’t offer, which are a music port (not on all models) and easy assembly. If you’ve ever attempted to assemble a standard treadmill then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Some compact treadmills also have an incline option, which can reach as high as 10%. You will also have a few options as far as workout programs go. There won’t be as many as on a standard treadmill, but these treadmills are designed for more than just simply walking. They do offer some variety.
If a compact treadmill seems like it would be a good fit, there are some good discount options online. Check them out, compare options, and find the best compact treadmill for you.
