Male Fitness: Much More Than Just Looking Good
Sure, that ripped look when the shirt comes off is great, but that is only a small part of the reasons for male fitness. Personal performance is great, too, both athletic and the night time recreational variety. The Fitness Works of Greater Phoenix is one of those great health clubs that offers something for everyone who wants to immerse themselves in an atmosphere that encourages exercise, fitness and good health. With four locations in the Phoenix area, Fitness Works can serve nearly everyone in Maricopa County who wants to be fit and healthy. Their facilities in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler and Glendale are fully equipped with the latest in exercise technology. They even offer a “Kids Zone” to keep the children entertained and involved while their parents workout. Exercise Gym
An Exercise Gym, Heath Club, Fitness Club, Grunt-And-Groan Palace, Body Factory or whatever you choose to call it is a place where you go to exercise in a variety of means and with an assortment of free weights, equipment and floor exercise areas. The whole purpose of these endeavors is physical fitness and good health. The level of luxury (of the equipment) and beauty of the surroundings will vary as much as the type of equipment and exercises used for those goals. Regardless of whether the exercise gym is a chrome-plated palace with soft, upbeat music playing over the loudspeakers, or a sweat-stained iron-pumpers club where the main sounds are the grunts and groans of the exercisers, a properly applied program will achieve similar results in both settings . . . or all of those in between.
Health, Fitness and Diet
The Adkins Diet, The Southbeach Diet, The Pritikin Diet, Weight-Watchers, Jenny Craig, grapefruit diet, low-fat diet, whatever-the-current-fad diet, all these programs and more have a common element. Their goals are all weight loss, shape altering or lifestyle changes and all of them work well, some of them even for longer periods of time. The common element that really makes them work is that they all recommend exercise as an important part of their program. Without exercise, the results are varied; from so-so weight loss, yo-yoing body weight, and slack and flabby flesh. Exercise is what makes any diet program work.
Compact Treadmills
The treadmill area of any fitness club is one of the most popular exercise areas. Most treadmills are very flexible on how much work is programmed into each session, as well as how much elevation, the speed of the belt, how long a session and variables applied during the session; walk, fast-walk, run, raised elevation, lowered elevation and the like. Most of the large, commercial treadmills are heavy and take up a considerable amount of space. The treadmill area of the health and fitness center is usually one of the larger as far as space allocation for the number of machines available. Only the floor exercise area will be larger.
Children Fitness Equipment
In what our kids call “The Olden Days” the only fitness equipment for children was found in the playgrounds that used to abound in any city or town. Parallel bars, swings, monkey-bars and other assorted steel-pipe-set-in-the-ground-in-concrete apparatuses were there to facilitate fitness in children by encouraging them to climb and swing like monkeys. Concerns about safety and in an effort to prevent our children from getting any bumps, bruises and scrapes (none of which harmed their parents or grandparents in any permanent way), much of this playground equipment is gone. It has been replaced by plastic devices with no sharp edges or exposed fasteners, all designed like boxes and pipes, but without much to challenge those little bodies into developing any muscles.
