Work With The Body
The quickest way to lose weight is somewhat counter-intuitive, especially in our goal-driven culture, and it involves working with the body rather than against it. When you’re trying to lose weight, the fat and the numbers on the scale are often seen as enemies to be fought against, rather than elements of a body out of balance. Realize that your body stored the fat on itself for a reason; perhaps it felt emotionally threatened, perhaps the only food available to feed itself with was unhealthy. Now you are trying to work with your body to get rid of the fat.
Strict Dieting Doesn’t Work
Perhaps you’ve tried to cut back your intake of food. How long did it work? Typically, the body takes about a week before going into “survival mode,” during which it saves every ounce of fat, consumes muscle tissue, and effectively goes into partial hibernation. If you’re trying to stay as active as you did before the diet, partial hibernation is not an option! Being tired and cranky can lead to eating something “you’re not supposed to,” which undermines your confidence and often destroys the urge to diet. Eating a lot, however, is the body’s natural response when it’s hungry and food is available, and is part of the quickest way to lose weight. By supplementing your healthy, moderate diet with occasional great snacks, you can keep your body out of “survival mode,” and maintain a normal metabolism.
Still, Eating Healthy is Essential
It’s a tragedy that the American diet is so filled with sugars, processed starches, and other foods that simply transform into matter, because they don’t provide the necessary vitamins or proteins needed to break down them down into energy that the body needs to function. Do your best to eat a balanced diet of proteins, vegetables, and whole grains, and this will provide the foundation for faster weight loss.
Exercise Often!
Stay active! This is the most important piece of advice for quick weight loss. If your job involves a lot of sitting around, make sure you get up every few hours just to walk around. Exercise your muscles regularly, so they know they can’t just turn off the metabolic juices that burn the fat. It doesn’t have to be super-strenuous, but your body just has to know that it can’t stop working. Once you prod the body to do its work, you’ll find that the quickest way to lose weight resides with, not against the body’s natural processes.
