Folding Treadmill

What to look for in a Folding Treadmill

You are wanting a treadmill but you are limited on space in your home. Folding treadmills make sense in this situation. It not only take up less space, but is generally easier to move, and can be easily stored elsewhere if needed. You may have heard that by getting a folding treadmill, you are sacrificing quality. Well, this was once the case, but many improvements have been made in recent years to their quality.  Commercial folding treadmills today are reliable and high quality.

Many manufacturers now use the same frame for both their folding and stationary treadmills which has greatly increased the reliability and durability of the folding treadmill. Here are some things to consider when purchasing a folding treadmill.

Cost and Stability

As with any treadmill, you want one that will last for years, can withstand its workload, and will not cost you an arm and a leg. In general, price reflects quality. Quality is usually better the more you pay, but do you need to get the highest priced treadmill to meet your needs? Assess your needs before determining which treadmill to buy. If you plan on heavy use, running for over an hour a day, then you will need a higher quality machine, less use would allow for a lower cost machine. You should try out the treadmill in person before purchasing. This is especially important with folding treadmills which can vary in quality. Give it a good workout and make sure it is not flimsy.

Look at the terms of the warranty. If the treadmill only comes with a 90 day warranty that is a sign of poor quality, and you should pass on it. You should look for a treadmill that comes with at least 1 year of service, preferably up to 5 years. These are good indications of quality.

Ease of Folding, Moving

When you are testing the stability of the folding treadmill, also check out how easy it is to fold and move. Are you planning on moving it and storing it elsewhere? Then it should be relatively easy to fold and to move. However, if you only plan to move the treadmill occasionally, like when company is over, than it does not have to fold quite so easily. Assess your needs and make sure the treadmill meets those needs.
